There
are now several hundred Brogdens in this tree, coverning 10 generations
and all descending from George who married Elizabeth Brown
at Bampton (Oxfordshire) in 1709. Brogdens sharing this ancestry are
still to be found in Oxfordshire as well as further afield in England
and abroad. There is a large branch of the family in New Zealand and
others have been traced to Australia and the USA.

Extracts
from the early pages of the Oxfordshire Brogdens' family
tree.
The first known Oxfordshire Brogden is George Brogden (Labourer/blacksmith)
b. 1685? Stanton Harcourt? m 01/10/1709 Bampton (OMI) d. 15/06/1740
SH ( but this record might be of his son) married Elizabeth Brown
(OMI) b.? d. 15/06/1740 SH
-
The George Brogden in the SH record who was buried on 15/06/1740 could
be this George or his son.
-
Grace Morrow's information is that Elizabeth was buried in 1741 but
this is not in the SH records. The SH records show an Elizabeth Brogden
"wife of George" buried on 20/07/1718. If the 1718 date is correct,
did George remarry?
-
A Hannah Brogden "widow" was buried on 16/10/1748 in SH who could
be a second wife to George. She could also be the wife of son George
although there is no record of George marrying in SH
-
The SH records have a burial of John Brogden on 13/05/1771. Who is
he?
Children of George Brogden and Elizabeth (Brown):
