The following table shows all the Brogdens listed in the UK Electoral
Rolls for 1999. This
includes all those who registered of eligible age at that time, ie 18+,
but because some may have failed to register, the list will not be completely
accurate. Never-the-less, the table gives a good picture of the locations
of Brogdens from the north of Scotland to Cornwall and from Norfolk
to Wales and Northern Ireland at the turn of the 20th century.
There were
no Brogdens in the Irish Republic or in the Channel Islands in 1999.
The counties most populated with Brogdens are Lancashire and Yorkshire,
reflecting the origins of the surname in the Brogden place name.
Whilst
Brogdens have migrated to many areas in the UK, their predominance in
the north of England can be taken as further evidence of their origins.
